Taste of Hawaii
Co-op with Muskego

With roots in Polynesian cuisine and a blend of ethnic influences from Japan, China, Portugal and Korea, authentic Hawaiian cuisine features dishes that have been prepared on the Hawaiian island for decades.  If you want to try real authentic Hawaiian food, you'll have to skip the fine dining.  Look for dishes like poi, kalua pig, and lau lau but be prepared to eat a lot as it is food of the people, food of the earth.  It's unpretentious and very hearty.  Tonite I'll prepare some of my favorites:

  • Seared Tuna Poke
  • Spam Musubi (Hawaiian Sushi)
  • Loco Moco Plate (Typical Hawaiian comfort food: white rice topped with seasoned burger patties and fried eggs, blanketed in rich brown gravy)
  • Malasadas (yeasted and sugared donuts)
